The year 2018 will mark a significant milestone in a watershed moment of global health history. Our AlmaAta40 Campaign strives to raise awareness, demonstrate the legacy of, and make connections to today and tomorrow’s global health challenges and opportunities for the 1978 Alma-Ata Declaration. In the run up to the Alma-Ata Declaration’s 40th anniversary, we aim to gather a group of scholars, health professionals, policy makers, activists, and many others interested in promoting and catalyzing action towards the articles that the Alma-Ata Declaration laid out.
The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Department of International Health is partnering with Future Health Systems to host a forum on the sustained impact of the 1978 Alma-Ata Declaration on global health. This Global Symposium will take place on September 12, 2018, with a main event at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Baltimore, USA. The Symposium will commemorate the 40th anniversary and bring leaders together to speak on the importance of community-based Primary Health Care models. We hope this online platform will serve as a global hub for partners and individuals interested in carrying forward the Alma Ata legacy. On this site, you may start a local group, connect with others, browse our resource repository, watch interviews with global health leaders, and much more!
